Hussain Dawood is a renowned Pakistani businessman and philanthropist. Owing to the Dawood family’s business acumen, Hussain Dawood has steered many businesses that have contributed to the economic prosperity of Pakistan. Besides The Dawood Foundation, he is at the helm of the Dawood Hercules Group which consists of Dawood Hercules Corporation, Engro Corporation and Hub Power Company. One of the main objectives of the Dawood Hercules Group is to find sustainable solutions for problems that hamper the country’s growth such as the energy crisis, agriculture and food scarcity. Mr. Dawood has also made valuable contributions as the chairman of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), Karachi Education Initiative (KEI) and Karachi School for Business & Leadership (KSBL).
Hussain Dawood is an active member of the World Economic Forum and its Global Agenda Council on Anti-Corruption, Education and Pakistan and its Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). He is also the Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the Cradle to Cradle Institute in San Francisco. He has supported many education and humanitarian associations and serves as a Director on the boards of Pakistan Business Council and Beaconhouse National University. He was also an active member of Board of Directors of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute from October 1993 to July 2004. Currently he is on the Boards of Karachi Education Initiative UK, London and Asia House, London.
In the past, Mr. Dawood provided his expertise in Corporate Governance to the government of Pakistan as a board member of Education Task Force and as Senator of Punjab University. Hussain Dawood was also on Board Committee for Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy from December 2007 to April 2012.
Mr. Dawood has also been involved in the development of local health sector. He was on Board of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital from February 2002 till March 2007. He also took over the responsibility as a Trustee of Al Shifa Eye Hospital in Mar 1986.
For his role as the honorary counsel of Italy, he was conferred on him the award “Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” by the Italian government.
Mr. Dawood holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and is a graduate in Metallurgy from Sheffield University, UK.
